Three finishing systems with an edge device and a tray of dyed 3D-printed parts, a woman with a laptop sees process phases and run history in a web app

How DyeMansion makes the process data of its finishing systems usable

DyeMansion builds systems for finishing 3D-printed plastic parts. We connected the systems. Customers see their processes live in the browser and use the data in MES and ERP via OPC UA.

Starting point

Munich-based DyeMansion builds systems for finishing plastic parts from industrial 3D printing: cleaning, surface treatment and coloring. The systems work in automated process chains, for products ranging from eyewear to automotive interiors.

Every material needs its own post-processing, and many customers develop their own processes. To understand a problem, customers often had to start a new run and have parameters recorded. That took time and led to downtime, especially since one operator usually looks after several machines.

What was needed was a solution that gives the service team, application consulting and customers the data they need at the right time.

Implementation

The foundation is codestryke’s edge and middleware software. It reads the data from the controls, prepares it and provides it via an OPC UA server – for the cloud and for the customer’s ERP, MES and SCADA.

At the same time, the data flows into Siemens MindSphere. On this basis, we developed the web app for DyeMansion’s customers. It shows running processes in real time with status messages and time series, monitors thresholds and raises alerts on deviations. Completed jobs are available as a history with configurable KPIs.

DyeMansion offers this as Workflow Center. Data Connect provides the same machine data to the customers’ systems via OPC UA.

  • OPC UA server for ERP, MES and SCADA
  • Web app on Siemens MindSphere with live data and history

Result

Customers can see at any time which machine is in which process phase. They are notified immediately of deviations and can respond. The run history makes production traceable.

DyeMansion’s service team responds faster to customer requests. With Data Connect, customers use the machine data in their own systems, independent of the cloud.
