Starting point

CELOS X is the digital ecosystem of DMG MORI. Its applications need data from the machines – including third-party machines and a wide range of CNC controls.

What was needed was a connectivity foundation that connects all machine types, with or without access to the main control.

Implementation

For several years, we have been developing the IoTconnector and the IoTconnector flex for DMG MORI. The IoTconnector flex is the central element of the connectivity strategy. DMG MORI adopted the architecture we designed as the connectivity foundation in CELOS X. It connects CELOS X, local apps and cloud apps.

Intelligent assistants support commissioning and the operator. Applications such as Job Manager, Robo2Go, Energy Saver and DMG Messenger build on the connector.

On this basis, we developed the Energy Efficiency application together with DMG MORI. An Azure cloud app continuously collects the energy consumption data of all connected machines, identifies savings potential and triggers optimization measures automatically.

Result

The IoTconnector flex is the foundation for further applications in CELOS X. Energy Efficiency identifies savings potential across all machine types and implements it semi-autonomously.

The hybrid cloud-edge architecture on Azure allows flexible deployment and a rollout across sites.
